About this product

ARK proSpoon™

A thoughtfully designed feeding spoon with a just-right bowl, gentle sensory texture and a little flexibility where it counts.

ARK’s proSpoon™ was designed by feeding therapist Debbie Lowsky with the practical details of feeding in mind.

The spoon bowl is deliberately sized to hold an appropriate mouthful without encouraging the spoon to be overloaded. Its shape also makes it easier for the lips to remove food from the spoon—an important consideration for children learning to eat from a spoon and individuals who need additional support with feeding.

Turn the spoon over and you’ll find another clever feature: gentle sensory bumps on the underside of the bowl. These provide additional tactile input to the tongue and lower lip and can be useful when introducing more texture into feeding experiences.

Available in two sizes, the proSpoon isn’t just for little ones – the larger size provides the same thoughtful features for older children and adults.

Why we love it

Because a good feeding spoon is about much more than getting food from the bowl to the mouth.

We love the proSpoon because its design considers how someone eats from a spoon.

The bowl isn’t excessively deep or oversized, helping to keep mouthfuls manageable and making it easier to remove food with the lips.

The textured underside provides an extra opportunity for sensory input around the mouth, while the material has just enough flexibility to be a little more forgiving if someone bites down on the spoon.

It’s simple, purposeful and designed by someone who understands feeding -which is exactly the kind of product we look for at Olaware.

Great for

  • Babies and children learning to eat from a spoon
  • Individuals who benefit from smaller, more manageable spoonfuls
  • Supporting lip closure and food removal from the spoon
  • Introducing additional oral sensory and tactile input during mealtimes
  • Children transitioning from smooth purées towards more textured foods
  • Individuals who tend to bite down on the spoon
  • Older children and adults who benefit from a thoughtfully sized feeding spoon
  • Individuals with reduced hand dexterity who may benefit from an adapted handle
  • Feeding therapy and everyday mealtimes

Small or large?

Small proSpoon™
Designed with younger children and smaller mouths in mind. Its smaller bowl helps keep spoonfuls appropriately sized during early feeding experiences.

Large proSpoon™
A larger version designed for older children and adults, with the same practical design features in a more appropriately sized spoon.

A feeding therapist’s note

Spoons can look fairly similar, but small differences in their design can make a surprisingly big difference during feeding.

One of the things I look at is the size and depth of the spoon bowl. An oversized or very deep spoon can make it harder to control the amount presented and can require more effort to remove the food successfully.

I like the proSpoon because the bowl is intentionally designed with feeding in mind. The textured underside is also a lovely addition when I’m looking to provide a little more sensory information to the lips and tongue.

Another clever feature is the slight flexibility of the handle. Although the spoon remains relatively rigid for feeding, it has enough give to be gentler against the teeth for someone who bites down. The handle can also be given a slight bend to create a curved position, which may make self-feeding easier for some individuals with reduced hand dexterity.
