For some people, chewing is an important form of sensory input. ARK’s Krypto-Bite® Chewable Gem Necklace offers a practical alternative to chewing on clothing, pencils, fingers and other objects that weren’t designed for the job.

Shaped like a slim crystal or gem, the Krypto-Bite is deliberately understated and comes in a range of colours and three toughness levels. Wear it around the neck so it’s readily available when the need to chew arises – while at work or school, while doing homework, when concentrating or simply throughout the day.

A feeding therapist’s note

Chewing isn’t always about food. For some people, having something to chew provides valuable oral sensory input throughout the day.

When I’m choosing a sensory chew, I think about what the person is currently chewing, how frequently they’re doing it and how much force they use. Those clues can help us choose both the style of chew and an appropriate toughness level.

I particularly like wearable chews because they’re accessible. Instead of having to find the sensory tool when it’s needed, it’s already there.

The pendant is designed for chewing; the cord and clasp are not. The necklace contains small parts that may present a choking hazard and is not recommended for children under 5 years.

No chew tool is indestructible. Always select an appropriate toughness level, supervise use and regularly inspect the pendant for signs of damage. Discard and replace at the first sign of wear or deterioration.
